Perfect Parent Contest

Easter 2013

Each year, we boil eggs and decorate them the traditional way.  Only 2 of the 4 of us actually eat them once they are hard boiled though.   So, this year, I came across a new idea on Pinterest.  Instead of coloring the shells, color the actual egg whites and turn them into deviled eggs.   It was fun and looked really cute on our table feast.

To color the egg whites here's what we did:  

• Boiled the eggs
• Pealed and cleaned the shells and skins off the egg whites
• Added 1/2 cup of warm water to a cup or bowl
• Add:  1/2 teaspoon white vinegar & drops of food coloring to get our desired color
• Drop egg white into colored water and let sit for 1-3 minutes (the long the more intense the color)
• Sat them on a paper towel to dry
• Filled them with the yolk mixture for deviled eggs

The next morning, Brittney treated us to a nice breakfast that she cooked all on her own...doesn't this look yummy!!

Scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, hashbrowns & cinnamon rolls...yum yum!

Mini Album Project

Kids are funny

So, today my youngest daughter has her silly hat on, figuratively speaking.  

She's quite the comedian with the things she says and does, however today she topped the cake.  She was so giggly over these glasses that she decided to wear them through the grocery store trip we made.   Hope it brings a smile to your face.

April's 2 Page Layout Workshop

Time for some layouts!

April's group project will be an adorable layout from our Reflections How To Book.  It is a 2 page layout using Close To My Heart's new Buzz and Bumble paper kit.   One side of the patterned paper has bees, the other is a stripped pattern that makes this paper versatile enough to be a feminine or masculine layout.

Techniques and products we will use:

• 4x6 flip flaps
• Direct to paper inking
• Irresistibles
• Hemp
• Sponging

This layout will hold 6 photos 4" x 6", 1 photo 5" x 7" and some smaller photos 2-3" x 3-4" or those spots can be used for journaling & memorbilia.

• Or $10 for Non Club Members (get $5 off your layout for every $30 purchased from the Catalog at this event or from my website during April)

New Wall Decor!!

I LOVE the new wall hangings I purchased from my friend Dede Ruckman.  She's an Uppercase Living consultant and had a fabulous open house this past weekend.    The plan is to get them on the wall this week.   

Dede paints the canvas herself, then applies the vinyl from Uppercase Living.  I love the choices they offer for home decor.  It's fun and versatile.  I can't wait to get my hands on the next batch of decorating from her.  She is so incredibly creative!!

Studio J - Love Your Layout

I have to admit...I have a new found love for another form of crafting.  Yes, DIGITAL SCRAPBOOKING!!  Wowza!  I was able to complete and print 68 layouts during the month of February.  It was fun to go back to some really old digital photos I had and create layouts that I can now insert into my albums amongst my other layouts.   I even printed copies to share with some of the other members of my family.

No software needed, just an internet connection.  Then print your layouts (2 pages per layout) for only $6.95 each.   Anyone that is part of my monthly club can use Studio J layouts towards their $25 monthly club purchase as well.
